Murder of policemen in Cuzco

Two policemen guarding the Prefect's house were murdered on June 15, 1991 in the city of Cuzco, as part of the violent actions of the PCP-SL against the forces of law and order in the region.

On June 15, 1991, in the city of Cuzco, two policemen guarding the Prefect's house were assassinated. This event occurred in the context of a series of PCP-SL attacks against police forces in the region. During this period, the provinces of Chumbivilcas, Espinar, Canas, Canchis, Paruro and Quispicanchi were under a state of emergency due to the persistence of violent actions by the PCP-SL. Police killings were part of the Shining Path strategy of attacking police posts and local authorities in the Cuzco region.
