Murders of employees at Tejidos La Unión
In June 1991, the MOTC (an organization of the PCP-SL) assassinated officials of the Tejidos La Unión company in Ate Vitarte, as part of its violent campaign against the factory after failing to control the union.
In June 1991, the Movimiento de Obreros y Trabajadores Clasistas (MOTC), a front organization of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso, initiated a wave of violence against the Tejidos La Unión factory in Ate Vitarte, assassinating company officials. This attack occurred after the PCP-SL failed in its attempts to win union leadership in the industrial zone of the Central Highway. The assassinations were part of the Shining Path strategy of total confrontation in the context of their so-called 'strategic balance'. Previously, in October 1989, the PCP-SL had already assassinated union leader Enrique Castilla Linares in the same factory.
