GEIN seizes videos of the PCP-SL leadership

The GEIN seized the PCP-SL's general archive in a house in San Borja, Lima, including videos of the leadership dancing to 'Zorba, the Greek'. President Fujimori showed fragments of these videos in February as evidence of the success of the new anti-subversive policy.

On January 31, 1991, the Special Intelligence Group (GEIN) raided a house in the district of San Borja, Lima, where they seized the general archive of the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP-SL). Among the confiscated materials were the famous videos showing the leadership of the PCP-SL dancing to 'Zorba, the Greek'. In February, President Alberto Fujimori showed fragments of these videos in a message to the nation, indicating that as a result of the new anti-subversive policy, the National Intelligence Services, in coordination with the Armed and Police Forces, would manage to capture terrorist leaders. This operation represented a significant blow to the intelligence structure of the PCP-SL by compromising sensitive material of its leadership.
