Truck seized with vegetable oil in Villa El Salvador

A column of the PCP-SL hijacked a truck with more than 300 boxes of vegetable oil and distributed its contents among housewives in a market in Villa El Salvador as an act of agitation and propaganda.

On January 24, 1991, a column of the PCP-SL hijacked a truck loaded with more than 300 boxes of vegetable oil in Villa El Salvador. Members of the subversive group distributed the contents of the truck among housewives shopping at a local market. This action was part of the agitation and propaganda strategy of the PCP-SL in the district, seeking to gain popular sympathy through the distribution of intercepted foodstuffs. The event was part of the period of increased Shining Path activity in VES during 1989-1990, when the group sought to dispute the hegemony of the left in the district.
