First Departmental Congress of Mothers' Clubs

First Departmental Congress of Mothers' Clubs created by FEDECMA with 80,000 affiliated women.

In 1991, the First Departmental Congress of Mothers' Clubs was convened, which gave rise to the Departmental Federation of Mothers' Clubs (FEDECMA). This federation grew to 11 provincial federations, 1,400 mothers' clubs and 80,000 affiliated women. FEDECMA became an important women's organization with public recognition and legitimacy among the population.
