Establishment of military bases in Huanuco

In 1991, the Army established new military bases in different villages and towns in Huánuco. Some were located along the Marginal Highway, mainly on the right bank of the Huallaga River. The bases were located in Aucayacu, Pucayacu, 7 de Octubre and Pueblo Nuevo, all in the José Crespo y Castillo district. This establishment of bases was part of the counter-subversive strategy in the area.
