Operations by MRTA detachments in Pariahuanca and Santo Domingo de Acobamba

Between 1991 and 1993, the MRTA maintained armed detachments operating in Pariahuanca and Santo Domingo de Acobamba. These detachments were part of the MRTA's reorganization efforts in the Mantaro Valley after it had been heavily beaten in the region.

In mid-1991, the MRTA managed to form some armed detachments in the towns of Pariahuanca and Santo Domingo de Acobamba. These detachments operated in the area until 1993, as part of the MRTA's efforts to maintain a presence in the Mantaro valley after having been hit hard in previous years. After retreating to the province of Chanchamayo, the MRTA managed to rebuild its ranks and survive until 1998, engaging in constant confrontations with military patrols. The Army gradually decimated the MRTA and reduced the space where they moved until they almost completely disappeared.
