Attack on the municipality of Carabayllo

In 1991, the municipality of Carabayllo was attacked by subversive groups as part of a strategy to weaken state presence in the Northern Zone of Lima. This attack was part of a series of similar actions against municipal buildings in the area during the 1980s and 1990s.

The municipality of Carabayllo was attacked in 1991 as part of a series of sabotage and intimidation actions carried out by subversive groups in the Northern Zone of Metropolitan Lima. This attack was part of a broader strategy to weaken the presence of the state and local authorities in the popular districts. The attack on Carabayllo was part of a sequence of similar attacks against municipalities in the area that included San Martin de Porres, Comas, Rimac and Carmen de la Legua in different years. During this period, the PCP-SL intensified its presence in the area, combining infiltration strategies with coercive actions against authorities and neighborhood leaders.
