Militarized intervention of La Cantuta
Military intervention of the National University of Education La Cantuta in 1991, as part of operations against universities considered subversive indoctrination centers. A military base was installed and remained until the year 2000, generating serious consequences due to repression.
In 1991, the militarized intervention of the National University of Education (La Cantuta) took place, as part of a series of military operations in national universities perceived as centers for indoctrination and even military training of subversive cadres. This intervention generated a wave of repression on the part of the State, in response to the PCP-SL's seizure of symbolic and doctrinal spaces. The military base installed in La Cantuta was maintained until the year 2000, militarizing and socially controlling the daily life of the university community. This militarization left serious consequences as a result of the repression suffered by the inhabitants and students, and preceded the assassination of university students on July 18, 1992.
