Mold intake by MRTA

The MRTA took over the town of Moho in the province of Moho, department of Puno, during 1991. This action was part of the MRTA's presence in the provinces of Sandia and Moho, where the subversive group managed to establish itself during this period. The seizure of Moho was one of the most significant MRTA actions in the Puno region, along with the seizure of San Juan del Oro. The MRTA had made its appearance in the department of Puno in 1987 with propaganda and sabotage actions in Puno and Juliaca, and by 1991 it had consolidated its presence in these northern provinces of the department.
