Chillccahuico mass grave discovery

The discovery of a mass grave in Chillccahuico in December 1990, together with other cases, created a context of concern about human rights violations, at a time when 4,800 reports of disappearances were registered.

In December 1990, the Chillccahuico mass grave was found, along with the discovery of a clandestine cemetery apparently used by PNP groups and the 18 people murdered in Chumbivilcas. These events created a context of concern about the government's respect for human rights. As of that date, 4,800 cases of reported disappearances had been registered in the country.
