In November 1990, the PCP-SL raided the town of Andajes with the aim of carrying out selective assassinations against local authorities. The victims were Alejandro Torres, Heracleo Segundo, Juan Segundo, Cornejo and Tito, most of them local authorities. This attack exemplifies the aggressiveness of the Shining Path against villages that rejected their political-military proposal. Four years later, in 1994, the PCP-SL raided Andajes again, killing six more people.
