Arrest of Constantino Saavedra Muñoz

Constantino Saavedra Muñoz, former deputy mayor of AP in Quinua, was arrested by members of the SIE on October 1, 1990 as he was leaving a CORFA meeting in Huamanga.

On October 1, 1990, members of the Army Intelligence Service (SIE) arrested Constantino Saavedra Muñoz, former deputy mayor of Acción Popular (AP) in the district of Quinua, province of Huamanga. The arrest occurred when Saavedra Muñoz was leaving a meeting of the Huamanga City Development Corporation (CORFA). This event took place in the context of an intensification of political violence in Ayacucho during 1990, a period characterized by military operations and arrests in the region.
