Constitutional accusation against Alan Garcia for the prison massacre

In October 1990, the Chamber of Deputies declared the constitutional accusation against former president Alan Garcia Perez for the 1986 prison massacre to be admissible. In November, the Cambio 90 bench cleared him of this accusation.

The Chamber of Deputies of the Peruvian Congress agreed to declare the constitutional accusation against former president Alan García Pérez for the prison massacre that took place in 1986. This accusation took place in the context of the end of his presidential term and the beginning of Alberto Fujimori's government. However, in November 1990, the Cambio 90 bench freed former president Alan Garcia Perez from the opposition's attempts to constitutionally accuse him for the case of the prisons. The process reflects the political tensions of the governmental transition period and the search for responsibility for the violent events that occurred during his administration.
