Fourth armed strike

Fourth armed strike called by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in Lima on August 9, 1990, in protest against the economic measures of Alberto Fujimori's government. It was part of a series of armed strikes aimed at increasing the subversive presence in the capital.

The PCP-Sendero Luminoso called the fourth armed strike in Lima on August 9, 1990, in protest against the set of economic measures implemented by the government of Alberto Fujimori Fujimori. This strike was part of an ascending sequence of armed strikes that the PCP-SL organized between 1988 and 1992 in the capital. Although these strikes did not achieve the objectives desired by their promoters, the PCP-SL refined its methods of pressure, and on several occasions succeeded in getting transportation workers to stop working in case their vehicles were damaged or they were killed for not complying with the measure. The evaluation in perspective indicates that these strikes evidenced the limited political advances of the PCP-SL in Lima.
