Armed strike failed in Ayacucho

The armed strike called by the PCP-SL for July 16, 1990 in Ayacucho did not prosper, demonstrating the resistance of the population to the impositions of the subversive group.

On July 16, 1990, the PCP-SL (Sendero Luminoso) called for an armed strike in the city of Ayacucho, which did not succeed. This attempted stoppage was part of the PCP-SL's strategy to exert territorial control and demonstrate its capacity to intimidate the civilian population. The failure of the armed strike was evidence of the resistance of the Ayacucho population to submit to the impositions of the subversive group. This event occurred in the context of the Second Campaign of the V Great Plan of the PCP-SL, which took place between March 1990 and February 1991.
