Attack of the PCP-SL to the SAIS Sollocota
The PCP-Sendero Luminoso attacked the SAIS Sollocota in Azángaro, Puno, killing 7 peasants. On the same day, 5 more people were killed in an attack on the Azángaro market.
On July 10, 1990, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso attacked the SAIS Sollocota in the province of Azángaro, department of Puno, killing 7 peasants. This attack was part of the PCP-SL's strategy to destroy the associative enterprises created by the agrarian reform, in opposition to the peasant mobilizations that sought the democratic restructuring of these lands. The same day of the attack on Sollocota, during an attack on the Azángaro market, 5 additional people were killed, demonstrating the intensification of violence in the area.
