Foundation of Raucana
Human settlement founded in July 1990 in Lima where the Shining Path PCP established the first and only open Popular Committee in the capital, maintaining total control until September 1991.
Raucana was founded in July 1990 as a human settlement in Lima. Since its founding, the Shining Path PCP was present organizing the neighborhood defense against eviction and intimidating the owners. Its political and territorial control was almost complete, to the point that the first open Popular Committee of Lima (and the only one) was installed there. This open control lasted until the installation, in September 1991, of a military base that remained in place until 2000. Raucana represented the extreme case of total control by the PCP-SL in the popular neighborhoods of Lima.
