Finding of the body of Jaime Cerrón Palomino

On June 19, 1990, the tortured body of UNC Vice Rector Jaime Cerrón Palomino was found, along with his driver, eleven days after his arrest. This was the best known case of disappearances and extrajudicial executions perpetrated by paramilitaries against members of the university community.

On June 19, 1990, the body of Jaime Cerrón Palomino, vice rector of the Universidad Nacional del Centro (UNC), was found dead, along with the body of his driver. Both bodies showed visible signs of torture. Cerrón Palomino had been arrested on June 8, 1990. This case is part of a series of disappearances and extrajudicial executions perpetrated by paramilitaries against members of the university community allegedly linked to the Shining Path PCP, which totaled several dozens of victims.
