Detention of Jaime Cerrón Palomino

UNCP Vice Rector Jaime Cerrón Palomino and his driver Armando Tapia were arrested on June 8, 1990. Their tortured bodies were found eleven days later in Tierra Blanca, Huancayo.

Jaime Cerrón Palomino, Vice Rector of the National University of Central Peru, was arrested along with his driver Armando Tapia on June 8, 1990. Eleven days later, on June 19, their lifeless bodies were found in a place known as Tierra Blanca in the city of Huancayo. Both bodies showed visible signs of having been tortured. This event had a strong impact on regional public opinion and took place in the context of the intensification of disappearances and extrajudicial executions of members of the university community allegedly linked to the PCP-SL.
