Murder of Tomás Irigoyen, manager of CITECIL
Assassination of the manager of CITECIL by the PCP-SL during a strike.
On June 2, 1990, the PCP-SL assassinated Tomás Irigoyen, manager of CITECIL, a factory that had been on strike for a month. This assassination exemplifies the Shining Path strategy of taking advantage of labor conflicts to eliminate business officials.
