Arrest and disappearance of 8 villagers in Pimachi, Aco and Huanri
Eight villagers from Pimachi, Aco and Huanri were detained by the Special Operations Directorate of the National Police on May 9, 1990 and later disappeared. Their bodies were found at the end of 1990 in a clandestine grave in Chontapunta, at 4,500 meters above sea level.
On May 9, 1990, members of the Special Operations Directorate of the National Police arrested eight residents in the communities of Pimachi, Aco and Huanri: José Chávez Loli, José Beltrán, Cornelio Abad Ediolino, Elfer Abad Casimiro, Roberto Loli Marzano, Ambrosio Surco Cama, Celestino Martínez Gavino and Orlando Anastasio Soberan. The specialized police left with the detainees on May 12, 1990, but the fate and situation of the detainees remained a mystery to their families. The fact was repeatedly denied by civilian, police and military authorities. At the end of 1990, a clandestine grave was discovered in a desolate place known as Chontapunta, at 4500 meters above sea level, in the district of Corpanqui, definitively distorting the official version.
