Murder of community members in Ccachahui

On April 25, 1990, in the community of Ccachahui, district of Ranrapata, province of Chumbivilcas in Cuzco, 21 soldiers dressed as peasants assassinated 10 community members. This event was part of a larger massacre that took place in the province of Chumbivilcas between April 20 and 30, 1990, where a new counter-subversive strategy by the Peruvian Army became evident. During this period, the Army acted as an army of occupation, resulting in 14 peasants killed, several women raped, homes robbed and two disappeared throughout the province.
