Military patrol death tour of Apurimac and Cusco communities
Military patrols from the Antabamba base made a three-week tour of communities in Apurímac and Cusco suspected of supporting the PCP-SL, between April 12 and May 1, 1990, leaving victims in their wake.
Between April 12 and May 1, 1990, a military patrol from the Antabamba base conducted a tour of the districts of Antabamba, Oropesa, Quiñota, Llusco and Santo Tomás in the provinces of Antabamba (Apurímac) and Chumbivilcas (Cusco). During this operation, the patrol raided peasant communities suspected of forming support bases for the Shining Path PCP. This event took place during the period of extreme crisis of the internal armed conflict, when the Armed Forces intensified their counter-subversive operations in the highlands of Apurimac and Cusco. The tour left victims in the communities visited, although the report does not specify the exact number of people affected.
