General strike initiated on March 15, 1990 in San Martin by the Frente de Defensa de los Intereses de San Martin and the Selva Maestra Agrarian Federation, demanding better prices for agricultural products and regional autonomy.
The Frente de Defensa de los Intereses de San Martin and the Selva Maestra Agrarian Federation initiated a general strike in the department of San Martin on March 15, 1990. The main reason for the conflict was the price of rice, corn and sorghum, as well as the demand for the creation of an autonomous region made up exclusively of the department of San Martin. This strike was framed in a context of agrarian mobilizations at the national level during that period.
