Clash near Talhuis
In February 1990, newly organized peasant patrols confronted PCP-SL detachments near Talhuis, killing several subversives and capturing one who was handed over to the Army.
After the organization of peasant patrols in January 1990, the confrontation with the subversive detachments took place very close to the community of Talhuis in February 1990. The community members proceeded to cut off the heads of the fallen subversives, and those who managed to escape were found the following day thanks to the knowledge that the patrols had of all the places, roads and paths through which the subversives transited. This second confrontation resulted in the death of another four hikers, while one was captured and later handed over to the Army. This confrontation marked the beginning of the offensive of the peasant patrols against the PCP-SL in Tulumayo.
