Saurama rape
Sexual violations occurred in Saurama, Vilcashuaman, Ayacucho in 1990, resulting in forced pregnancies. The children of these rapes were left in a state of abandonment.
In the district of Saurama, province of Vilcashuaman, department of Ayacucho, during 1990, cases of rape were registered in the context of the internal armed conflict. According to testimonies gathered by the CVR, both women and a mute person became pregnant as a result of these rapes. The children born of these rapes were abandoned. This case is part of the systematic pattern of sexual violence documented by the TRC in rural Andean areas during the conflict.
