Establishment of the Yurimaguas detachment

In 1990, the MRTA established the Roberto Perez military detachment in Yurimaguas as part of the eight control zones established in San Martin. This structure allowed the Northeastern Front to decentralize operations and maintain a presence in the region.

In 1990, the MRTA established the Roberto Perez military detachment in Yurimaguas as part of the expansion and decentralization of the Tupacamarista Army in the Northeastern Front. This detachment was part of the eight zones controlled by MRTA in the department of San Martin, with a specific area of influence in Yurimaguas. The creation of these zones and sub-zones was a result of the expansion of the theater of operations and made it possible to evade the offensive of the Armed Forces and the police, prolonging the armed confrontations. The Yurimaguas detachment, together with the other seven detachments, had its own General Staff made up of a Political-Military Responsible, a Political Responsible, a Logistic Responsible and a Communications Responsible.
