Installation of the Huallaga Central detachment

In 1990, the MRTA established the Huallaga Central military detachment, called Alcides Reátegui, with an area of influence in Chazuta, Picota and Bellavista. This detachment was part of the structure of eight zones controlled by the Northeastern Front of MRTA in San Martin.

The MRTA established the Huallaga Central military detachment in 1990 as part of its organizational structure in the department of San Martin. This detachment, called Alcides Reátegui, had the towns of Chazuta, Picota and Bellavista as its area of influence. It was part of the eight zones controlled by the MRTA in the Northeastern Front, as a result of the expansion of the theater of operations and the decentralization of the Tupacamarista Army. By April 1990, the FNO had three detachments of twenty-five men each, including the Central Huallaga, and by August of that year it had five hundred combatants, which allowed for the consolidation of the eight zones of control.
