Disappearance of 76 teachers in Satipo

76 teachers working in the jungle of Satipo were captured and disappeared by the PCP-SL in 1990. The teachers were kidnapped when they were about to travel to their places of origin in July of that year.

During 1990, 76 teachers serving in the Satipo jungle disappeared. The teachers worked in different annexes in the Ene River Valley and could only leave the area twice a year, in July and December. In July 1990, when the teachers from all over the Ene River Valley were about to travel to their places of origin, they were kidnapped by the Shining Path. The subversives assured that in December they would let them travel, but the teachers remained missing.
