Killing of fifteen ronderos in Dos de Mayo

In 1990, the PCP-SL assassinated fifteen ronderos in Dos de Mayo, Satipo. This massacre was decisive for the massive displacement of communities from the Tsiriari valley to Mazamari in search of protection.

In 1990, the PCP-SL committed selective assassinations in colonist communities in the Tsiriari valley, including Union, Santa Isabel, Dos de Mayo, San Francisco de Cubaro and Monterrico. The massacre of fifteen ronderos in Dos de Mayo was a crucial event that marked the massive displacement of Tsiriari valley communities to Mazamari in search of protection. This event occurred in the context of the PCP-SL offensive against villages organized in rondas and their control of the Ene valley. The massacre was part of a series of attacks against ronderos and local authorities who resisted Shining Path control in the province of Satipo.
