Murder of Alcides Palomino Aronés

Alcides Palomino Aronés, secretary general of SUTEP Ayacucho, was assassinated in the early morning of December 10, 1989 by individuals dressed in military uniform with a shot to the head and eight stab wounds. The PCP-SL claimed responsibility for the attack as a response to a judicial process related to the case of the prisons.

In the early morning of December 10, 1989, a group of individuals dressed in military uniform assassinated the secretary general of SUTEP Ayacucho, Alcides Palomino Aronés. The victim was shot in the head and stabbed eight times. The PCP-SL (Shining Path) claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it was in response to an inadequate judicial process in the prison case. This assassination occurred in a context of intensifying political violence in Ayacucho during Alan Garcia's administration.
