Police strike in Hierba Buena
Clash between the Peruvian National Police and a detachment of the PCP-SL in Hierba Buena, where more than seven Shining Path militants were killed, including important cadres such as 'Patty'. This operation constituted a significant blow against the subversive organization in the region.
A detachment of the PCP-SL that was gathered in the house of a villager in the hamlet of Hierba Buena, located one hour from Calluán, was surrounded by a platoon of the Peruvian National Police. A confrontation ensued in which the PCP-SL lost more than seven important cadres, among them a militant known as 'Patty'. This operation represented one of the most important blows against the Shining Path structure in the region during that period. The Hierba Buena hamlet is located in the province of San Marcos, Cajamarca.
