Formation of the Popular Revolutionary Bloc
The Popular Revolutionary Bloc is formed with militants who have split from the PCP Unity
Between the end of 1989 and the beginning of 1990 the Popular Revolutionary Bloc (BPR) was formed. One of its main contingents came from a split in the PCP Unidad, headed by Andrés Sosa Chanamé. The BPR shared many of the views of the PUM and UNIR about the current situation in the country, their distrust of the institutions of democracy and their defense of human rights. Among its leaders was Congressman Yehude Simon. The formation of the BPR showed an accelerated radicalization of leftist militants.
