Kidnapping of Saturdino Calapuja Salazar

Saturdino Calapuja Salazar, leader of the CGTP, was kidnapped and mistreated in December 1989 after participating in a union meeting in Lima, and was later found in an agonizing state in the center of the city.

Saturdino Calapuja Salazar, a member of the CGTP (General Confederation of Peruvian Workers), was kidnapped in December 1989 in Lima. After participating in a CGTP meeting, he was kidnapped and ill-treated. He was later found in an agonizing state in downtown Lima. This case is part of a series of violations of freedom of association documented by the ILO during the period of political violence in Peru.
