Execution of Víctor Salvador Rivas Gutiérrez and Jesús Manuel Pérez Guillén in the main square of Churcampa.
Víctor Salvador Rivas Gutiérrez, son of the mayoress of Churcampa murdered by the PCP-SL, and Jesús Manuel Pérez Guillén were executed by soldiers of the Counter-Subversive Base of Churcampa with rifle shots in the main square. The CVR report describes this event as an example of the irrationality of war.
On November 15, 1989, Víctor Salvador Rivas Gutiérrez, son of Mayor Armida Gutiérrez de Rivas, murdered by the PCP-SL a month earlier, and Jesús Manuel Pérez Guillén were executed by military personnel from the Counter-Subversive Base of Churcampa. The executions were carried out with rifle shots in the middle of Churcampa's main square. This event exemplifies the irrationality of war, where the son of a PCP-SL victim was later executed by State forces. The murder of his mother and stepfather had occurred on October 9, 1989, just a month earlier, when PCP-SL militants killed them for being militants of the Peruvian Aprista Party.
