Assault on police post in La Oroya

On November 7, 1989, PCP-SL militants assaulted the La Oroya police post, leaving three policemen wounded. The attack was part of the Shining Path's strategy to expand their areas of operations and harass law enforcement.

On November 7, 1989, a group of PCP-SL militants assaulted the police post in the city of La Oroya. As a result of the attack, three policemen were wounded. This assault took place in the context of the V Shining Path Plan to 'Develop Bases in function of the Conquest of Power' implemented between August 1989 and August 1992, which proposed the expansion of the guerrilla and operational zones. The attack was part of an escalation of harassment actions against the forces of law and order that characterized the most violent period in the region.
