Entry of PCP-SL to Puerto Alegre

On November 4, 1989, PCP-SL entered Puerto Alegre imposing its organization and establishing popular committees. This incursion was part of a broader campaign by the Alto Huallaga Main Force in the Tamaya River and Imiria Lake.

On November 4, 1989, the Main Force (FP) of the Alto Huallaga of PCP-SL raided Puerto Alegre, one day after its incursion in Masisea. During this action, PCP-SL imposed its organization and established Open Popular Committees and Organized Committees in all the hamlets along the Tamaya River and Imiria Lake. The population was forced to organize under threat. Puerto Alegre, founded on June 24, 1940 and influenced by Brazilian settlers, would later become a strategic point of resistance when in 1991 it formed a Self-Defense Committee (CAD) that was fundamental in combating PCP-SL domination in the Imiria Lake area.
