PCP-SL assassinates twenty people in Azángaro to prevent elections
In Azángaro alone, between November 3 and 11, 1989, a score of people, including authorities, candidates and ordinary peasants, were assassinated by the PCP-SL insurgents in an effort to contain the will to vote with blood. The suffrage took place the following day and only in 5 districts of Azangar, the PCP-SL managed to prevent the elections from being held.
