March against the armed strike called by the PCP-SL
Massive march in Lima against PCP-SL armed strike called by Henry Pease
On November 3, 1989, in the midst of the campaign for the municipal elections, one of the most massive marches against the PCP-SL was organized in all the years of the internal armed conflict. The initiative to mobilize the population in the face of the threat of an armed strike in Lima came from Henry Pease, IU candidate, and received the support of almost the entire political class. It was perhaps the most effective reaction of the IU on the citizenry to confront with an emblematic action the state of terror fomented by the PCP-SL since 1980.
