People's trial and murder of Vidal Paredes in San Blas
On November 11, 1989, the PCP-SL carried out a 'popular trial' in San Blas, Chambará, which culminated in the assassination of the community president, Vidal Paredes Ballasco. This was part of a series of assassinations of local authorities in the Bajo Cunas area.
On November 11, 1989, in the annex of San Blas, district of Chambará, in Bajo Cunas, the subversives of the PCP-SL congregated the community in the State School for Minors. They held a 'popular trial' that concluded with the assassination of Vidal Paredes Ballasco, president of the community. This event occurred in the context of a wave of assassinations of authorities and peasant leaders in the Alto and Bajo Cunas area. On the same day, another group of hikers raided the Angasmayo annex and killed a Coyllor Project engineer named Maraví and the owner of the only restaurant in the area.
