Murder of Municipal Agent Antonio Bruno Quinto
Municipal Agent Antonio Bruno Quinto was assassinated by the PCP-SL in the public square of Chaquicocha in November 1989, as part of a systematic campaign to eliminate local authorities in Alto Cunas.
In November 1989, Municipal Agent Antonio Bruno Quinto was murdered in the public square of the annex of Chaquicocha, district of San José de Quero. This murder occurred in the context of a wave of violence perpetrated by the PCP-SL against local authorities in the Alto Cunas area. In the same month, three other authorities of Chaquicocha were ambushed and killed near the Pilcomayo district: Viviano Cueva Macha (President of the Community), Onedino Damian Macha (Administrator) and Javier Macha Tacza (Community Prosecutor). These murders were part of the Shining Path's strategy to eliminate community authorities and establish popular committees in the region.
