Death of Demetrio Palomino

Demetrio Palomino, leader of the Agrarian Federation of Ayacucho, was assassinated by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in November 1989. His death is part of the systematic offensive against social leaders during the internal armed conflict.

Demetrio Palomino, leader of the Agrarian Federation of Ayacucho, was assassinated in November 1989. His death was perpetrated by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso (PCP-SL) as part of a systematic offensive against social and union leaders in the country. The case was registered in the complaints filed with the International Labor Organization (ILO) on violations of freedom of association in Peru. His assassination is framed in the context of the second stage of the war according to the PCP-SL, called "strategic balance", initiated in 1989, when they directly attacked popular organizations and their leaders.
