Kidnapping of businessman Héctor Delgado Parker by MRTA

MRTA kidnaps Héctor Delgado Parker, subjecting him to popular trial for six months

Héctor Delgado Parker, former advisor to President Alan García and owner of Producciones Panamericana, was kidnapped around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Torres Paz and Enrique Villar, Santa Beatriz. His vehicle was intercepted by a yellow Datsun and a cherry pickup truck. The kidnappers fired machine guns, smashed the windows with sledgehammers and mowed down the driver, Fredy León Araujo, who died. Security personnel Luis Neyra Granados and Delgado Parker were wounded. The MRTA subjected him to a popular trial accusing him of corruption in the purchase of Mirage airplanes and psychosocial warfare. They demanded a special report on San Martin, an interview with Victor Polay, transmission of a proclamation, distribution of food and money. He was released after six months visibly emaciated.
