Murder of 10 community members in Sallalli

The PCP-Sendero Luminoso killed 10 community members in Sallalli, Vinchos, in October 1989, as part of their offensive against communities that opposed their control in the area.

In October 1989, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso killed 10 community members in the town of Sallalli, Vinchos district, Huamanga province. This event occurred in a context of intensification of the internal armed conflict in the region, when the PCP-SL was launching a new offensive after declaring the transition to the "strategic balance" stage. The attack was part of a series of violent actions against peasant communities that had organized counter-subversive patrols or resisted Shining Path control.
