José Luis Aznarán, leader of the National Federation of University Teachers of Peru (FENDUP), disappeared in October 1989 in Lima. His case is part of a series of disappearances and murders of union and social leaders that occurred during that period of the internal armed conflict. The disappearance took place in a context of intensified violence against union leaders and popular organizations.
