His death was perpetrated by the PCP-SL (Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path) as part of the subversive group's offensive against union leaders and popular organizations. This assassination occurred in the context of a systematic campaign of violence against social leaders that the PCP-SL considered obstacles to its territorial and political control.
