Murder of witness Martha Crisóstomo García
Witness of Cayara massacre was killed by hooded men in Huamanga after previous threats.
Martha Crisóstomo García, a witness to the Cayara events who worked at the Health Post, was murdered in Huamanga. She had been threatened with death for commenting on the Cayara events when President Alan Garcia arrived. She had also recognized the body of her aunt Jovita García Suárez when she was asked to do so by prosecutor Carlos Escobar. Hooded persons violently entered her house and when they drove her some distance away they shot her, killing her.
