Second farmers' strike in the south
FDCP calls second farmers' strike with blockades and mobilizations in Puno
In September 1989, the FDCP still had enough strength to call for a second peasant strike in the south as a prelude to the municipal and regional elections in November. As had happened in March, blockades, mobilizations and some isolated seizures took place. Fourteen days later, the measure was lifted and a new dialogue was established with the authorities which led to the formation of new commissions in charge of enforcing the peasants' demands.
