Shining Path attack on shopkeeper in Morococha
Shining Path completely dynamited Centromín Perú's buyers' house in Morococha in August 1989. This was the last Shining Path attack in the area before they ceased their presence in Morococha.
In August 1989, a Shining Path column completely dynamited Centromín Perú's mining company in Morococha. This was one of several ongoing dynamite attacks against the machinery of the state mining company. The attack was part of a series of terrorist actions that the PCP-SL had been carrying out against the mining infrastructure since 1988. After this attack, Centromín Perú workers began to label as subversive the workers of other mining companies located in Morococha, because the latter's facilities were not attacked. After this last attack, Sendero Luminoso did not have a presence in the Morococha area.
